Let's experience the history and culture of Matsusaka! !

OzuYasujiro Matsusaka Memorial Museum has been newly established on the second floor of the MatsusakaCity City History and Folklore Museum.
OzuYasujiro, a world-renowned film director, spent his youth from the age of 9 to 19 in Matsusaka, following his father's idea that he wanted to raise his children in a hometown with a good environment.
Since he had visited the History and Folklore Museum, which was then called the Iinan County Library, the second floor exhibition room was designated as the `` OzuYasujiro Matsusaka Memorial Museum'', and the museum is dedicated to his roots, the situation in Matsusaka, and the relationship between the film and his works. The exhibition focuses on their encounters, their time as substitute teachers, and their interactions with lifelong friends.
This museum, whose building alone gives you a sense of history, is a renovated library built in 1909.
The museum exhibits materials related to Matsusaka merchants, such as Matsusaka cotton and Ise oshiroi. (Nationally registered tangible cultural property)

Also, as a place to introduce the culture of Matsusaka as a whole,
We hold special exhibitions in fields such as history, culture, art, lifestyle, and industry.

It is one of the nationally designated registered tangible cultural properties.
