Riichi Yokomitsu was born in Fukushima Prefecture on March 17, 1898, to his father Umejiro and mother Kogiku (the fourth daughter of Kodaira Nakata and Kiku), but lived in his mother's parents' home in Nomura, Iga Town, from the first to fourth grade of elementary school. (local name) and attended Higashi-Tsuge Junior High School (currently Tsuge Elementary School).
Later, in 1920, he made his debut in the literary world as a novelist, developed the New Sensation Movement with Yasunari Kawabata, and then moved on to New Psychological Literature.
His works include ``Sun Ring,'' ``Machine,'' ``Nenzono,'' ``Emblem,'' and ``Traveling.''
He sent many letters to his close friend, the late Zenichi Sawai (Tsuge Town, Iga Town), expressing his love for Tsuge, saying, ``When I think of my hometown, I can't think of Tsuge more.''
On the small hill where he often climbed and was lost in thought, a literary monument was erected with Riichi's favorite phrase, ``The moon rises starving on an ant platform,'' and a monument with an explanatory text by Yasunari Kawabata was erected. It is being
