About the Wisteria Garden

wisteria garden

Wisteria flowers have been loved by Japanese people since ancient times, and are featured in many poems in the Man'yoshu, the oldest collection of waka poetry still in existence in Japan. The22large wisteria trees in the Wisteria Garden came all the way from a garden at the foot of Mount Fuji.

Wisteria hates having its roots cut and is said to be difficult to transplant. The wisteria brought for the garden was a huge tree, and all of its roots were intricately intertwined, making it impossible to transplant it without cutting the roots.

Transplanting wisteria is a big thing - diameter60cmAs much astwenty twoBooks, too. about370kmThis was a huge project that faced many obstacles, such as transporting the plants long distances and planting them in a place with a completely different climate.2017The project began in about3Over the years, the wisteria has been transplanted to RedHilForestofHisa.

With the cooperation of many people, knowledge of various plants, and theapplication of the FFC water technology developed by the Akatsuka Botanical Garden Group, all 22 wisteria trees have takenroot firmly in this location without withering, creating an incredible wisteria garden!

After overcoming many obstacles, please come and enjoy their beautiful blooms and gentle fragrance in Mie.

In the well-maintained garden, seasonal flowering trees are beautifully tended to complement the wisteria.

The pink shrub, the delicate flowering Japanese anemone with its thin petals, and the Moss Phlox that decorates the base of the wisteria brighten up the wisteria garden.

Enjoy the collaboration with wisteria in full bloom...!

While taking photos in the wisteria garden, I discovered an alien-like face on the trunk!

The round eyes and wide open mouth created a cute, relaxed expression that made me take a picture without even thinking.

The trunk is in an area where you can enjoy seasonal flowers, so please come and find it!

It's really nice to be able to see these giant trees from the foot of Mount Fuji in TsuCity.

The wisteria garden was created through a lot of time, ingenuity and hard work, so please come and visit!

And please try to find some adorable aliens too!

*This year's alien's trunk has grown and its face is now slightly slanted!

Please also take a look at this report, which will serve as a reference for your wisteria tour.
