Pray for the elimination of epidemics and a rich harvest

This summer is a time when disasters, epidemics, pests in the fields, and other disasters are likely to occur, and the ``Tenno Festival'' has been held since ancient times as a ritual to quell such disasters. In some regions, it is also called the "Gion Festival".
Once upon a time when an epidemic spread throughout the country, sixty-six halberds, each about two lengths long, were made, according to the number of countries in the country, said to be the statue of Gozu Tenno (Susho no Mikoto, the younger brother of Amaterasu Omikami). A shrine was erected and a festival was held, and boys from Rakuchu sent a mikoshi to pray for the end of the epidemic.
The etymology of ``Tenno Festival'' comes from this Gozu Tenno, and it has been passed down to this day as a festival to exorcise disasters and pray for a rich harvest.
