Chokyuji Temple

A Soto sect temple located near the center of ouchiyama. It is said to be the 7th temple of the Tokai Hakuju Thirty-Three Kannon Sacred Sites.
The main hall was burnt down in 1992, and was rebuilt as a temporary hall in 1999, and still stands today.
The ``Wooden Seated Statue of Amida Nyorai'' in our collection has been designated as a tangible cultural property of the prefecture.
This statue is said to have been created by Sozu Eshin, and is said to be the nenbutsu of ouchiyama Sango. It is a guest Buddha at this temple, and its origin is unknown.
It is thought to be a work from the early Kamakura period.
