This is a festival that celebrates the whale fishing that was popular during the Edo period.After holding a memorial service for the whales, the participants chant "haraso, haraso" while reenacting the old-fashioned rowing technique of manipulating a hatcho oar, as well as reenacting whaling at the time, in which a harpoon was driven into a whale. To do.
On the day of the festival, after the ura prayer was held at Jizo-ji Temple, a Japanese boat called "Haraso-bune" with a big catch flag on the back was towed by a fishing boat carrying local men and those who wished to leave the Kajiga fishing port and sail to the neighboring port. Head to Asuka Shrine in Sone.
After arriving in front of Asuka Shrine and dedicating Kujiraho, the men changed into red and white costumes on the quay, and surprisingly, painted their entire faces white and applied lipstick to look like Kabuki bears. I put on a pattern and put on makeup.
Afterwards, on the way back to Kajiga Fishing Port, we repeatedly arrive at the heroic "ancient whale method" of rowing a boat with a harpoon and catching whales with a harpoon while shouting "Haraso! Haraso!" inside and outside the bay. .
