A festival dedicated to the god of earthquakes with a unique parade of catfish flower carts

This annual festival is held on November 2nd and 3rd every year at Omura Shrine, which is revered as the guardian deity against earthquakes. Three mikoshi (portable shrines), including a large catfish flower cart, and a unique lion dance are paraded.
On the 2nd, at the Yoimiya Shrine, lion kagura performed by people from each region is performed, and the festival is lively until late into the night. The shishimai performed at Omura Shrine's autumn festival is ``shishi kagura,'' and it is said that all of Iga's lion dances were learned from Aekuni-JinjaShrine in IgaCity.
In addition to Shishi Kagura, there is also a huge catfish flower cart that adds excitement to the autumn festival.
The ``Keystone'' enshrined at Omura Shrine is said to hold back the giant catfish that causes earthquakes, and Omura Shrine is famous as the ``God of Earthquakes'' because of this. The treasure hall of Omura Shrine was created during the Azuchi-Momoyama period and is designated as an important cultural property of the country.
