What is Mie Prefecture's Jumbo Zodiac?

Mie Prefecture's "Jumbo Zodiac" has been created and dedicated (installed) since 1986, and by walking through each year's zodiac signs, we wish for "harmonious families, peace for all people, and a bountiful harvest."

The framework is made of metal or wood, covered with styrofoam, cut into shape, and then painted. It is a masterpiece filled with the wisdom of local residents that takes several months each year to create.

The idea of making jumbo zodiac signs (zodiac signs) to match the social conditions of the year has been passed down from the agricultural successors ``Shiroyama Jyuninshu'' to the volunteer group ``Furusato Aikikai.'' Even now, it is held every year from December 29th to February 11th. It has been dedicated (installed) at Tatsumizu Shrine as the ``zodiac hidden gate''. In order to promote the culture of mountain villages and revitalize the region, the jumbo zodiac, which is a symbol of the region, is attracting attention both inside and outside the prefecture as one of the big topics at the beginning of the year!

Basic information about Tatsumizu Shrine where Jumbo Zodiac is dedicated

Tatsumizu Shrine is a shrine located in Iedoko, Misato-cho TsuCity Mie Prefecture. The main deities enshrined here are Dainichi Takamikoto, Asakusa Taimikoto, and Emperor Ojin, and there are many other deities enshrined here as well.

A temporary parking lot will be opened near the Misato Elderly Living and Welfare Center TsuCity from December 29th to February 11th every year when the Jumbo Zodiac is dedicated (installed).
