Surprised by the mysterious rock formations and moved by the view of the sea and mountains of Ise-Shima ♪ Introducing "Ryusenzan" in MinamiiseTown

I think everyone enjoys mountains in different ways, but why not try climbing a mountain where you can see the ocean or see groups of stones that give you a sense of the history of the earth? This time, I will be explaining a mountain in MinamiiseTown called ``Ryusenzan''. It is also known as the mountain with a dragon, which is the zodiac sign for 2024, and you will be able to enjoy the scenery that makes you think, ``This is the scenery of Ise-Shima!'' that you can't get just by looking at it from inside the city. I actually walked and ate the characteristics of this mountain, the route, and the delicious gourmet food recommended after descending the mountain. Please take a look at TAKA's real experience report of climbing many mountains in Mie Prefecture.

[Things to keep in mind when climbing]
Climbing involves dealing with nature, so there is a good chance that uncertainties and unexpected situations will occur. Be prepared, plan well, and have fun.

① When climbing, give yourself plenty of time and choose a mountain that suits your experience and physical strength.
② Make a climbing plan in advance and submit a climbing report to the nearest police station or mountain climbing post by the day of the hike. Don't forget your map and compass on the day.
③ There is a possibility of encountering dangerous wild animals such as bears and hornets. Bring along equipment to deal with them, such as a bear bell.
④ Check the weather information beforehand. The climate in the mountains is subject to rapid changes. Be sure to prepare clothing that can handle sudden changes in temperature, including rain gear.
⑤ Bring water and portable food, take precautions against heat stroke, and take adequate breaks.
⑥ When climbing the mountain in winter, be sure to bring snowy mountain climbing equipment such as crampons. Even if there is no snow at the foot of the mountain, there may still be snow and ice near the top of the mountain.
⑦Do not litter the mountain or the area surrounding the mountain, take it home with you, and enjoy mountain climbing while observing good manners.

What kind of mountain is Ryusenzan?

Ryusenzan is a mountain with an altitude of about 402m located near MinamiiseTown in the southern part of IseCity.

These are the two characteristics of Mt.

  • View of Gokasho Bay from the mountaintop
  • A group of stones called Kogoishi

One of the features of the mountains in MinamiiseTown is that you can see a beautiful view of Gokasho Bay from the top of the mountain, which was the case with ``Mayama'', which I previously introduced in ``Sightseeing in Mie''.

* Click here for the report article on “Masan”, which I previously experienced.

TAKAIt's nice to be able to see Gokasho Bay from different angles♪

What is Shenron Stone?

It is written as "Shinryuseki" and pronounced as "Kougoishi".

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like the name gives me some kind of power ^ ^

r-02

A mysterious group of stones that suddenly appear when you climb Mt. Ryusenzan, this is Shenryu Stone.

The area around Longxian Mountain is called the Longxian Mountain Group, and it seems to be an area with a unique geological structure that is different from neighboring mountains.

There are stone rows that were created by nature over many years (also known as dobilo stones), and there are also stone rows that people in the past were fascinated by the mysteries of the Shenron Stone and imitated, so as you walk through them, you can distinguish between them. It might be fun too ^ ^

Can beginners climb Mt. Ryusenzan?

Everyone feels anxious about walking in an unknown mountain. .

That's what I thought (lol). I'd like to walk up Mt. Ryusenzan instead of everyone, and then answer any questions you may have, such as "Is it an easy mountain to climb?" and "Is the path easy to understand?"

Looking at Ryusenzan, which we will introduce this time, from the data

  • The route is approximately 5km round trip from Funakoshi Community Center, the starting point.
  • Approximately 3 hours of activity time

Considering the distance and activity time, it doesn't feel like a full-fledged mountain, but there are some parts that require a lot of climbing, so beginners who have never hiked a mountain may find it quite difficult. .

As a “point when climbing”

  • Conserve your stamina until the steep climb
  • The route is easy to understand and has landmarks, so don't miss it.

Although Mt. Ryusen is an easy mountain to climb, mountain climbing involves dealing with nature, so I hope you will take great care when climbing.

r-5

Route introduction

This is an overhead view of this route.

We will introduce the route that starts from Funakoshi Community Center, climbs Mt. Ryusen, and returns to the community center.

r-6

Start from Funakoshi Community Center

I will park my car at Funakoshi Community Center.

There is also a bus stop in front of the community center, making it easy to access by public transportation.

■Address

1781-1 Funakoshi, Minamiise-cho, Watarai-gun MinamiiseTown

r-7

r-8

If you go a little east from the community center, you will see the information board for Mt. Ryusenzan.

There is also a map prepared by MinamiiseTown, so please refer to it.

From here, we will proceed a little further inside the private house.

r-8

One photo looking back.

You can still see a glimpse of Gokasho Bay right now, but as you continue to rise in altitude, it will expand throughout your field of vision, so please look forward to it ^ ^

r-10

Although it was winter when I climbed the mountain, I was able to see a few flowers.

This is a flower called the camellia that blooms during the cold season from December to March.

r-10

As you continue walking, you will suddenly see an open area where you can see Mt. Ryusen, which you will be climbing.

r-11

Signposts are also placed along the route.

It may be a small thing, but I think beginner mountain climbers would appreciate this kind of consideration.

One of the things beginners worry about is ``Will I get lost?'', so I'm grateful to the people of MinamiiseTown who are working to eliminate that worry ^ ^

r-12

Two routes to the summit of Mt. Ryusenzan

As you continue along the paved road, you will arrive at a fork as shown in the photo.

Both routes lead to Mt. Ryusenzan, but this time we climbed from the blue route indicated by the signboard (yellow circle), and on the way back we took the red route in the opposite direction and returned to this place. I'm planning on coming.

r-13

As you continue walking while looking at Gokasho Bay from the side, you will see a large water tank.

r-14

The route goes around this water tank, so be sure to follow the signs without missing them.

TAKA:The paved road ends here and we begin the mountain road.

r-15

To the top of the mountain via a steep slope

As soon as you enter the mountain road, you will enter a steep uphill slope.

Shorten your stride and slow down your pace a little.

r-16

After a few minutes of breathing while climbing, you'll know you're almost at the top of the mountain when you see a lone torii gate.

r-17

Once you pass through the torii gate, you will be forced to choose between ``Fudoson'' and ``Ryusenzan Mountain Summit.''

Fudoson is just a short walk from this branch, so you can take a quick look, or if you're going to traverse the nearby mountain called Tsubakiyama, you'll need to take the road past Fudoson.

However, this time the destination is Mt. Longsenzan.

So let's just take a peek at Fudoson.

r-18

Is it Shenron Stone? There was a statue of Fudoson surrounded by a group of stones.

The scenery ahead of Fudoson is also quite spectacular, so if you are interested, please go and see it ^ ^

There is also a TAKAbench, so it's a good place to take a break.

Now, let's head to Ryusenzan.

We'll walk a little bit from the torii gate, but let's do our best as this is the last step!

r-19

After starting from the community center, it took about 2 hours to reach the summit of Mt. Ryusenzan.

Thank you for your hard work!

r-20

This view overlooking Gokasho Bay, the weather was nice that day, the sea was sparkling and it was amazing♪

There is also a bench here, so it's nice to relax and enjoy the view while drinking coffee ^ ^ (I spent about 15 minutes like that lol)

To Kogoishi

After relaxing at the top of the mountain, next I'm going to go see the ``Kougoishi'', which is said to be a specialty of Mt. Ryusenzan.

r-21

The Shenron Stone is on the "Eastern Route" we chose as our way back, so let's look for it while heading back.

~As a point of caution~
The eastern route we took on the way back is also a steeply sloping road, so if you decide to go down, be careful.

After going down for a while, it came out.

r-22

r-23

This is Shenron Stone.

It's a group of stones of various sizes called the ``Dobiro Stone Rows.'' To be honest, I didn't expect it to be this big, so I was surprised in a good way (lol)

r-24

TAKA's natural art work♪

Although the mountain is about 400m above sea level, it was an interesting hike with many things to see, such as the sea and the stone rows ^ ^

r-3

What kind of town is MinamiiseTown where Ryusenzan is located?

MinamiiseTown is located along the coast in the southern part of IseCity, and Ryusenzan, which we introduced this time, is located just south of IseJingu.

Approximately 60% of the town area faces the sea, which is designated as Ise-Shima National Park, and the unique topography of the Rias Coast is interesting even when driving around. I'm sure you'll be excited (?).

TAKAI was so excited lol

The following are introduced as specialties and specialties of MinamiiseTown.

Do you know anything ^ ^

  • Large spiny lobster

→ Ise lobsters weighing more than 400 grams, caught in the Kumano Sea, and landed at the fishing port in MinamiiseTown are called this.

Items of this size are often used as lucky charms, and most of them are dedicated to shrines, etc., making them highly rare and valuable.

  • naize Mikan
r-4

→It refers to Unshu mandarin oranges produced in an area called naize in MinamiiseTown, and they are not only delicious, but also have thin skins that are easy to eat.

It is said that it is widely recognized as a year-end gift in the surrounding area.

  • Ise tuna

→ Young bluefin tuna cultivated in MinamiiseTown, kamisakiura cho are shipped as "Ise tuna."

If you know these things when you come to MinamiiseTown, you will have many more ways to enjoy the place, so we recommend it ^ ^

Introducing recommended nearby spots

I've actually visited some of the spots I'd like to recommend around Mt. Ryusen, so I'd like to introduce them to you.

r-25

Tsuchi-no-miya

In MinamiiseTown a power spot known only to those in the know is Tsuchinomiya, where it is said that Tsuchi-no-miya deity of Amaterasu-Omikami Omikami's wet nurse washed up.

Pregnant women often come to this shrine to pray for safe childbirth, and people other than those trying to conceive also come to pray for marital harmony and the prevention of women's diseases.

My husband and I also visited here this time ^ ^

r-27

Maruo restaurant

This is Maruo Shokudo, where you can enjoy seafood caught in this area.

Since it is close to the Funakoshi Community Center, which is also the starting point of Mt. Ryusenzan, many visitors come here wearing mountain clothes (!)

r-28

There are fresh sashimi set meals and fried shrimp set meals, but this time we had a bowl of tuna and a bowl of horse mackerel♪

I wasn't sure if it was vinegar rice or soy sauce, but the sweet seasoning made it easy to eat, and of course the fish was fresh and delicious ^ ^
