A historic site that is also a famous spot for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves

This is the site of the residence of Tomonori Kitabatake, the 8th governor of Ise Province and a descendant of Chikafusa Kitabatake, who was active in assisting Emperor Go-Daigo during the Nanbokucho period.
After the Battle of Okochi in 1569, he set up a mansion in Mise, a fortress located deep in the mountains along the Miyagawa River and one of the stations on the Kumano Kaido Road. . It is said that he lived there until he was assassinated by assassins under the orders of Oda Nobunaga in 1576.

On the south side of the Misekan ruins, on a slightly elevated area across the valley, is Kitabatake Tomonori's tomb mound. It enshrines the spirits of Gukyo and his vassals who unfortunately died during the Mise Incident in the 4th year of Tensho.

There is also a promenade nearby that leads up to Mt. Chausu, which was a watchtower at the time, and you can enjoy the scenery of each season, from cherry blossoms in the spring to autumn leaves in the fall.
The entire area has been designated as a prefectural historic site.
