Yazuno Osugi [Prefecturally Designated Natural Monument] Yazuno Osugi
This large cedar tree, approximately 2.7 meters in diameter and 40 meters in height, is said to be between several hundred and several thousand years old, located within the precincts of the inner shrine of Hase Shrine, which is said to be the middle shrine of Yazu.
It is worshiped as kounogi, and there are well-maintained hiking trails and campgrounds nearby, where you can see other large 30m-class cedar trees.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the large cedar tree at Yazu is a sight to behold, nestled in a park surrounded by amazing tranquility and sacredness.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on May 7, 1953 (S28).
