Kanbodaiji Temple (Shogatsudo) Kambo Daiji (Ginger)
It is said to have been built during the reign of Emperor Shomu as a separate temple to Todaiji Temple in Nara, but most of it was burnt down during Oda Nobunaga's invasion of Iga. The name Shogatsu-do (Shogatsu-do) became popular because a memorial service for the principal image of the eleven-faced Kannon is held during the Lunar New Year.
The tower gate, main hall, and the principal image of the eleven-faced Kannon, which is only unveiled once every 33 years, have been designated as important cultural properties of the country. In addition, the Shusho-e, held every year on February 11th and 12th, is a unique combination of common events and solemn ceremonies, and is a valuable cultural asset passed down by our ancestors.
