Tamaru Shrine is enshrined with 20 gods, including Michizane Sugawara, and is widely worshiped both within and outside the local area. In front of the main shrine, there is a sacred cypress kounogi that pierces through the heavens and earth, and in ancient times it was also the god of agriculture, praying to the sacred enoki kounogi to stop the rain. Based on the belief in Tenjin, the shrine is now visited by people who wish to achieve academic success, ward off misfortune, and recover from illness.

●Wishing pat cow
It is said that if you stroke the cow while making a wish, your wishes will come true, such as improved academics, good health, and family fortune. The cow, which was the messenger of Tenjin, carries people's wishes to Tenjin.

●Fudezuka
Pencils that have become smaller or brushes that are no longer able to write due to damage are placed in the Fudezuka to express our gratitude and pray for academic achievement and improvement in calligraphy.

●Tamaru stone/purification stone
It is said that if you offer a skewer with a wish on a tamarishi stone, you will be blessed with good fortune, and if you stroke the haraeishi stone, it is said that you can exorcise impurity.

●Big festival
A large festival held every spring and fall. In spring, there is a ritual to ward off evil spirits, where it is said that if you have your head bitten by a lion, you will not get sick. In autumn, the Tenjin mikoshi is carried by parishioners from the town and carried around the town.
