Large cedar at Asuka Shrine
Most of the large cedar trees within the shrine grounds are over 6 meters in circumference, and the shrine's forest has been designated as a cultural property by the city. The highlight is the `` kounogi Shibonsugi'' tree, which is said to be the sacred kounogi of this shrine, with a trunk circumference of over 8 meters and an age of about 1,300 years.
