Oka Hachiman Shrine was completed in the land of Shirakashi as the first of Minamoto no Yoritomo's plan to locate subsidiary shrines of Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine in Kamakura throughout the country, and the company name ``Oka Hachiman Shrine'' is an abbreviation indicating that it is a subsidiary shrine of Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine. is. It was planned to be built in Iga first and then all over the country, but after Yoritomo's death the construction plan was canceled and this Oka Hachiman Shrine was the first and last one to be built.
Since its founding, Yabusame has always been held on the grounds of the shrine, and now it is held on the Sunday around the 15th of April every year.
