The first intangible cultural property designated in KomonoTown: "Sugitani Karei Dance"

\\\Announcement of Sugitani Karei Dance Performance//

The Sugitani Karei Festival, the first designated intangible cultural property KomonoTown, will be held on the following dates.
◇ What is Kare Odori?
Also known as the Taiko Dance or Rain-Making Dance, this has long been a Shinto ritual for praying for rain in areas of the Suzuka Mountains where there is a water shortage for rice paddies. The dance involves beating Japanese drums in time with the songs to drive away evil spirits and to call forth divine spirits, while a conch shell is used to call forth clouds and to request rain.
In the Sugitani district KomonoTown, this dance is performed to be passed down to the next generation.

Please come along with your friends.
