What kind of place is Uguisu no Mori Campground?

"Uguisu no Mori Campsite" is a campsite surrounded by nature, located in KihokuTown, Kitamuro District, Mie Prefecture, at the foot of TsuZurato-togePass, the trailhead of the World Heritage Site, "Kumano Kodo."

There are 14 campsites, two cottages, and two covered barbecue areas that can be enjoyed for day trips.

Get off at Kii nagashima Interchange on the Kisei Expressway and drive for about 5 minutes towards the World Heritage Kumano Kodo TsuZurato-togePass Trailhead.
*Although the road is narrow, work trucks and campers can also enter.

The road to the "TsuZurato-togePass Climbing Entrance" is surrounded by nature and has a mystical atmosphere, but as soon as you enter the "Uguisu no Mori Campsite" the atmosphere becomes open and spacious! As the name suggests, we could hear the song of the Japanese bush warbler as soon as we arrived!

The most eye-catching feature is the pond with a slide next to the administration building. It draws water from the river, so it's perfect for splashing around in the water in the summer! Slide down the slide and splash into the pond! It's a very popular spot where children play over and over again!

There are many other things to do at Uguisu no Mori Campsite, which is popular with family campers. Let's start by introducing the campsite!

campsite

There are 14 campsites at Uguisu no Mori Campsite. Two of them (Site A and Site B) have a great view and are sunny, while the remaining 12 sites are campsites surrounded by trees. All sites are car sites where you can drive your car.

This time I used the popular site "Forest Camp Site E"!

The forest campsite is surrounded by trees and each site is at a different elevation, giving it a greater sense of privacy!

Although there are differences in elevation between the sites, the sites farthest from the shared facilities have their own stairs! It's great that you can access the shared facilities without having to go around in front of the corridors and other sites!

Power outlets and Wi-Fi available! (Free)

All sites are equipped with power (1500w), and the usage fee is included in the site fee. Each site has a breaker, so you don't have to worry if the breaker goes off. Of course, Wi-Fi is also available!

Although there is a limit to the number of people that can use each site, there is no restriction on the number of cars that can be brought in or the number of tarps or tents that can be set up, allowing you to enjoy camping with a great deal of freedom.

In addition, campsites A and B and forest campsites E and F have their own washing areas! This is very convenient! Reservations fill up from the most popular sites, so please make your reservation early!

The can in the photo is for disposing of ash. They bring it to each site when you use it and collect it when you're done, which is very convenient! However, open fires are prohibited at all sites. When making a bonfire, be sure to use a fire pit or fireproof sheet!

Two plots can be used at the same time!

Campsites A and B, and forest campsites E and F are adjacent to each other, so they can be used at the same time. This is recommended for groups.

cottage

There are two cottages at "Uguisu no Mori Campsite". Both can accommodate six people. There is a step at the entrance, but the interior is barrier-free.

There are two types of cottages: one with a wooden deck and one with a private outdoor terrace as shown in the photo. Both types come with a table, chairs, and outdoor lighting that are convenient for enjoying a BBQ outdoors! In addition, a wood stove (5kg of firewood included) is included from October to the end of May!

*Open flames are strictly prohibited on the wooden deck, so please use BBQ grills and the like outside on the wooden deck.

Fully equipped with appliances!

It is fully equipped with a table set (with a high school chair), one bed, two futon sets, a TV (digital terrestrial, BS, WOWOW), a DVD player, an air conditioner (cooling and heating), a ceiling fan, an air purifier, indirect lighting, a heated carpet (in winter), a kerosene fan heater (in winter), an extension cord... To be honest, it is more fully equipped than my house (lol). It's more like a cottage, or rather a vacation home!

Please note that pajamas and yukatas are not provided, so please bring your own clothes.

The kitchen is also equipped with a system kitchen, gas stove, grill stove, refrigerator (with freezer), microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker, water heater, hot plate (electric pot), fire extinguisher, cooking utensils, dishwashing detergent, saran wrap, and even seasonings. All you need is the ingredients! (laughs)

What's more, there is even a washing machine! You can stay for multiple nights, and since there will be a lot of laundry to wash after your stay, it's great to be able to do so while you're at the campsite!

There is also a bath and toilet!

The cottage is also equipped with a bath where you can soak in comfort and stretch your legs. Shampoo, conditioner, bath towels, etc. are also provided.

There is also a bathroom drying function, so you can hang out your laundry!

Of course, there are toilets with heated washlets! As a campsite, there are toilets and showers in the shared facilities, but cottage guests can use them within their cottage, so there is no need to use the shared facilities!

There is also a loft!

Finally, we will introduce the loft, which is very popular with children. The 4 tatami floored loft is equipped with lighting and comes with a double futon set.

It's nice to spend some time relaxing in a cottage that offers everything you need!

Covered barbecue area

If you want to enjoy a day trip barbecue, we recommend the covered barbecue area! There are 4 large tables that can accommodate up to 8 people. You can borrow the entire BBQ set for free.

The barbecue area is covered and equipped with windproof curtains, so you don't have to worry about rain.

The staff will also take care of everything from preparation to cleaning up afterwards!

You are free to bring your own ingredients, but you can also order ingredients as an option! There are not only meat but also seafood menus, so you can enjoy according to your preferences. If you want to enjoy empty-handed, please make a reservation in advance!

shared facilities

Now, let's introduce the shared facilities. There is a shower room next to the administration building, and toilets and a kitchen in two places, next to the administration building and in the forest building!

Administration Building

You will definitely stop by the administration building when you check in, but they sell consumables, drinks, firewood, fireworks, etc. so be sure to check there if there's anything you forgot to buy.

There was also a craft chuhai made with "Meyer Lemon" that is unique to Mie Prefecture! Rice made by the staff of "Uguisu no Mori Campsite" is also on sale!

There is a kitchen next to the management building. It has hot water so it's easy to wash up oily dishes! This is the closest place if you are using Site A or B, the BBQ terrace, or the cottage.

On the opposite side of the administration building from the kitchen are the toilets (one for men and one for women) with heated washlets. If you are using sites A and B or the BBQ terrace, this is the closest place.

Forest building

There are toilets and a kitchen in the forest building. If you are using the forest site, this is the closest.

The kitchen in the forest building is spacious and has a large table. Of course, hot water is also available! There is also a clear garbage sorting station, which is very convenient!

The toilets in the forest building are equipped with heated washlets and have three private rooms for men and women.

The kitchen area is used for washing dishes and there is a separate area for washing the fire pit and BBQ grill.

shower room

The shower room is located next to the administration building. The changing room is fully air-conditioned and heated! If you wish to use the shower room, you must make a reservation at the reception (500 yen for 20 minutes).

Playground space

There is a playground at Uguisu no Mori Campsite. In addition to the wood mountain (bouldering type) and wooden slide, there are swings, a sandbox, monkey bars, horizontal bars, and more!

If your site has a view of the playground, you can watch your kids play from the campsite!

Although it is not a playground equipment, when the barbecue area is not being used, the tables can be transformed into ping pong tables! What a fun idea!

Pond with slide

And speaking of summer playgrounds, here is a pond with a slide! You can play there for free if you are staying overnight, using day camping, or using the BBQ area. Opening hours are 8:00AM-7:00PM from June to September.

Since you can play within sight of your neighbors, both adults and children can have fun and cool off in safety!
