Butshoji Temple

A Shingon Ritsu sect temple near IgaCity.
It is the second ritual site of the Tokai 49 Yakushi Sacred Sites, and the ``Wooden Seated Statue of Yakushi Nyorai'' has been designated as an important cultural property of the country.
It was enshrined in the zushi of the main hall, and until now it was only unveiled every 33 years as a secret Buddha.
It is a work from the mid-Heian period that retains a good Konin-style feel, and is thought to be the oldest Buddhist statue in the Iga area.
