Inu pear is a small deciduous tree in the Rosaceae family that grows only in Aichi, Mie, and Gifu prefectures in Japan.
The standard Japanese name is Mamenashi, but in Mie Prefecture it is often called Inunashi.
The tree grows to a height of about 8 to 10 meters, and during the flowering period in April, it produces white flowers that resemble cherry blossoms and are about 2.5 cm in diameter.
Inunashi grows naturally around the valley on the west side of Midorigaike, a reservoir on Mt. Tado located at the southernmost tip of the Yoro Mountains.
It was designated as a national natural monument on August 5, 2010 (H22).
