Shinmei cedar in Mika

A large cedar tree that is said to be 900 years old is located in the precincts of Osugi Shrine at the northern end of Mika Village.
It splits into two trunks 2m above the ground, and looks like two trees joined together.
There are also large cedar and camphor trees within the grounds of this shrine, and in autumn, the surrounding large trees change color, giving the quiet area a sacred atmosphere.
The particularly large Shinmei cedar is about 30 meters tall and has a root circumference of about 9 meters, and has been worshiped as a symbol of the gods since ancient times, and the company's name is said to be derived from this cedar.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on April 22, 1943.
