Sudajii of Obuchiji Temple

There is a large Sudajii tree that is said to be over 300 to 400 years old in the precincts of Obuchiji Temple, which is located on a slope overlooking the Miyagawa Valley.
This solitary tree, about 20m tall, is thought to be a remnant of the forest of large trees that existed in this area at the time.
It is one of the largest trees among the Sudajii trees that grow in the prefecture.
It is also called the ``keeper of the cemetery'' because there is a cemetery nearby, and the clear stream of the Miyagawa River and deep forest give it an indescribably mysterious impression.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on March 17, 1998 (H10).
