Seiganji Temple

A hollyhock, the crest of the Tokugawa family, is written on the water tank that receives the rain gutters of this temple. The main hall is said to have been donated by Mitsutomo Tokugawa of the Owari domain, and was built about 300 years ago. Also, as a temple treasure, the Buddha Nehanzu is a picture of Buddha lying down with his head facing north and his right side facing down under a tree called ``Sarasoju''. The artist and year are unknown, but according to temple legends, it is said to have been created by a master named ``Chodonji'', and in 1986, it was designated as a painting of Isshi-cho.
