The path of the strata folds of Nomizaka
If you enter the old road near the entrance on the south Ise side of the Nomizaka South Tunnel (the smaller tunnel) and look up at the mountain through the tunnel, you will see strata folds.
The formations, which look like countless stacks of plates 3 to 10 cm thick, form a complex curve, indicating that this mountain was formed in ancient times by being pushed up from the ocean floor by land uplift.
It is recommended to bring binoculars as the geological folds are a short distance away.
