Tsukimoto Oiwake
moon night light

Originally, it was just a turning point on the road, but in the Edo period, as the Ise Sangu Shrine became popular, teahouses and nimuri shops started lining the streets, and Oiwake became a place where you could take a break. It is thought that The place name Tsukimoto is said to have come from the meaning of Tsukiyomisha's book hamlet, as Tsukiyomisha has been promoted there since ancient times.
At Oiwake, a large night light was erected on the east side of the road, facing the guidepost, in 1842 with donations from inns from as far as Nara.
