The base is RV park “Michi-no-eki Park Shichirimihama”

"RV Park" is a paid parking space promoted and authorized by the Japan RV Association to provide "a place where you can sleep comfortably and safely in your car." The RV park "Michi-no-eki Park Shichirimihama" is very convenient for overnight stays in the car, as it also has direct farm produce, restaurants, a tourist information center, a supermarket (Okwa), and a coin laundry!

"Mihama Loco" located in the parking lot is full of products made in MihamaTown Town, such as agricultural products such as mandarin oranges and accessories from the traditional craft "Ichiki Momen"! We especially have a wide selection of mandarin oranges, and it's great to be able to sample them!

Reception at "Shichirimihama Tourist Information Center"

Reception for the RV park is done at the Shichirimihama Tourist Information Center. There is also a toilet that is open 24 hours a day, and 100V and 200V power sources are available. If you purchase a garbage bag for 100 yen each at the reception, you can have it collected in a designated trash can. (Combustible garbage only) Great for car trips!

Shichirimihama Tourist Information Center is a tourist information center and also serves cafe drinks. MihamaTown where you can grow mandarin oranges all year round, has the "3 Types of MihamaTown Drink Comparison Set" where you can try and compare juices from Seminole, Setoka, and Unshu mandarin oranges, so you might find your favorite flavor! (*The type of tangerine juice is subject to change)

RV park users can also rent bicycles at a cheaper price than usual. Since it is an electrically assisted bicycle, it is easy to ride on hills. I also received sightseeing information here and used this rental bicycle to explore MihamaTown!

Stroll around MihamaTown on a rental bicycle!

I parked my car at the RV park and headed to the large camphor tree of `` hikitsukuri Shrine'' that I learned about at the ``Shichirimihama Tourist Information Center'' on a rental bicycle! On the way, we took a detour to Shichirimihama Fureai Beach and took a commemorative photo!

Shichirimihama Fureai Beach

"Shichirimihama Fureai Beach" is a grassy open space along the coast overlooking the World Heritage Site of ShichiriMihamaBeach and the Pacific Ocean. Palm trees, blue sky, blue sea, and a tropical mood!

hikitsukuri tree

After about 30 minutes on a rental bicycle, we arrived at hikitsukuri Shrine! The sacred camphor kounogi at hikitsukuri Shrine is said to be 1,500 years old. The sacred kounogi tree, which boasts the largest size on the Kii Peninsula, is a natural monument of Mie Prefecture and has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 trees.

The large camphor tree of `` hikitsukuri Shrine'' can be seen together with the cherry blossoms in spring. The inside of the shrine was refreshing, and I lost track of time as I looked up at the overwhelming presence of the large camphor tree. The contrast with the vermilion color of the torii gate looked great!

What about dinner and a bath?

After working up a sweat while renting a bicycle, you want to fill your stomach and work up a sweat! At the Shichirimihama Tourist Information Center, we received a list of restaurants in MihamaTown and information about nearby hot spring facilities. From here we will travel by car.

Handmade udon “Oishiya”

From "Michi-no-eki Park Shichirimihama", drive for about 10 minutes on National Route 42 towards KumanoCity and head to the handmade udon restaurant "Oishiya" for dinner! There is not only a parking lot in front of the store, but also a larger parking lot in the back, so you can safely park large vehicles such as campers.

There is a wide variety of menu items, and after having a hard time deciding which one to go for, I decided on the ``Miso stew + small rice ball set''! It was warm and delicious~♪

“Oishiya” also has a drive-through (takeout) service for udon and soba! It's fun to order udon noodles at the drive-thru, heat them up in your car, and eat them!

Day-trip hot springs are available at Kumano Inn “Umihikari”

After filling my stomach, I took advantage of the day-use hot springs at Kumano no Yado Umihikari in KumanoCity! This place is about 25 minutes by car from `` Michi-no-eki Park Shichirimihama''.

The sunrise seen from Shichirimihama

After warming up at Kumano's inn, Umihikari, we spent the night in the car at the RV park, Michi-no-eki Park Shichirimihama. I heard that I could see the sunrise over the sea, so I went to bed early. The weather was nice the next morning, and we were able to see the sunrise over the sea!

Second day of MihamaTown tour!

Watching the sun rise over the sea, the second day of touring MihamaTown begins! First, let's head to "Sagiri Chaya" where you can eat tonkatsu made from MihamaTown 's branded pork "Iwashimizu pork"!

Sagiri Chaya

Sagiri Chaya, a restaurant located in the mountain village of Oroshi, where you can enjoy high-quality Iwashimizu pork cutlets and hamburgers, is very popular with locals and tourists alike! When I visited, customers were coming one after another.

I ordered the "fillet cutlet set"! You can really feel the sweetness of the meat, it's tender and it's amazing! We had delicious!

Kumano Kodo/Fuden Pass

Fuden Pass is one of the routes on the "Kumano Kodo Iseji" route that connects IseJingu to Kumano Hongu Taisha, and it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes (distance about 4.1 km) to climb between Takachira bus stop and Hoshiji bus stop. is. However, this time, I didn't have that much time, so I headed to a place that was recommended to me if I wanted to take photos that were very typical of Kumano Kodo.

I was very happy to be able to take photos at Kumano Kodo/Fuden Pass, where the stone pavements that were made hundreds of years ago still remain! On the way, I passed someone climbing the mountain! "Fuden Pass" is said to be relatively easy to walk even for beginners, so it's a good idea to prepare well and give it a try!

For souvenirs…donut specialty store “NISCO”

The time limit for touring MihamaTown is almost here. Before heading home, I stopped by NISCO, a donut specialty store, to buy some souvenirs. This is also a spot that I was told about at the Shichirimihama Tourist Information Center.

NISCO's donuts, which have a colorful and fun appearance, are made from carefully selected materials without using preservatives or preservatives. It would also make a great souvenir! In addition to the donuts, the chewy, freshly fried churros made with rice flour are also popular!

There is also a cafe space right behind the donut shop NISCO. After purchasing donuts and churros at the store, you can take them to the cafe space and eat them slowly! The air conditioning is working, so you can spend your time comfortably.

Big Kusaku of hikitsukuri

hikitsukuri no Daikusu [Prefecturally designated natural monument]

HigashiKishu

Mihama MihamaTown

This is a large camphor tree that has been selected as one of the 100 best trees in Japan, located on the grounds of atawa Shrine, which is enshrined with hikitsukuri Shrine. The tree is said to be 1,500 years old, and its size is approximately 35 m in height and 4 m in diameter, and its dignified and magnificent stance gives off a feeling of hugging those who see it. At about 4 meters above the ground, the trunk splits into five large branches, and from a distance it looks like a camphor forest. This large oak tree has been able to survive even after being cut down in the past, and is carefully protected by local people as kounogi, and the tree remains in good condition. The name has been changed from "atawa no Daikusu" at the time of designation. It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on January 22, 1936 (S11).
