Centipede orchids grow in clusters all over the 30m high cliff of the Oishi Fudoin temple grounds facing National Route 166 leading from Matsusaka to Nara.
Centipede orchid is a type of aerial orchid that is a specialty of Japan.
It has a centipede-like shape and often grows epiphytically on trees, and can be seen in some places in the southern part of Mie Prefecture, but it is extremely rare to find it growing epiphytically on quay walls in such large numbers. It is called a case.
In addition, you can also see epiphytes of drought-resistant plants such as Hitotsuba, Noxinobu, Himeitabi, and Kobanohinokida.
It was designated as a national natural monument on April 8, 1927 (S2).
